White sage (Salvia apiana), also known as sacred sage, is an evergreen perennial native to the Southwestern United States. This potent herb has been used for centuries by Native Americans in rituals of cleansing and healing. Many people continue this tradition today by holding their own sage smudging ceremonies. Burn white sage to clear energy and restore balance, for protection and spiritual purification.
To smudge your house start at the back, or the basement and work your way through the house. I keep all my windows closed and open the front and the back door while saying a cleansing prayer and telling them to get out. It all in your comfort and how you wish to smudge there is no correct or wrong way.
